Don't know if this is the right place to post this topic but .....
Anyone's into Hugh Laurie here? Or Jeremy Irons? Or Colin Firth? Or Sir Ian McKellan? Or Ian Wright the traveller? Or do you know any good British actors?

No particular reason Marty. I am into British actors now cos they are so bloody talented. They may not be that good looking but they are certainly full of charisma and persona. Remember Ian Ogilvy, the guy who played The Saint? I used to go gaga over him when I was little. I must add another one - Joseph Fiennes.

Don't you mean Ralph Fiennes? Ian Ogilvy took over from Roger Moore in the Saint role. Nowadays he appears in many of the television productions that appear playing character roles. A superb British actor is David Jason. There are many, many more. We have digital channels here now which means old series are now repeated on these and I spend many a hppy hour reliving these old series.

An actor on the up is Philip Glenister, one to watch for. Another superb British actor is Clive Owen but the film roles he has been given do not do him justice. Don't forget the great women actresses like Dame Judy Dench.

Of late they have been adapting 19c novels for the screen. We had Cranford, which I once acted in in amateur dramatics, and they now have 'Larkrise to Candleford'. These are superb.

We had a series called 'Life on Mars' which gathered a cult following and the new series of this is called 'Ashes to Ashes'.

British Drama and the actors produced are one thing we can be proud of over here. Having said that I respect and admire Kevin Spacey who is now director of one of the leading theatres here in the UK and has taken them to new depths.

Hugh Laurie is renowned over here as a comedian and for playing 'Jeeves' to Stephen Fry's 'Wooster'. To think that he now speaks permanently with an American accent (according to Stephen Fry) in order to maintain character for the Amercian show 'House' speaks volumes about the man.

Yes, I meant Joseph Fiennes, Ralph's brother, he was Shakespeare in Shakespeare In Love. And I love Clive Owen too. I just remember another one - Ray Winstone. A fresh British actor to look out for is Jamie Bell, the boy who played Billy Elliot and most recently in Jumper. He is a million times better than tht Harry Potter boy. Laurie and Fry are so talented. They are also authors do you know? I've read The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie. I sometimes don't get the British humor but the book's alright. Speaking of book, my first ever favourite writer is Sue Townsend, and she is British. She wrote the funniest book - Adrian Mole.

Sue Townsend's books were extremely funny, poingnant and well written and I enjoyed them all.

As far as actors and actresses go we are very lucky. The drama on television is full of these reat people and the diverse range of characters that they play shows their full talent. Many of the films now on release include British actors usually in character or cameo parts and I think that many of these make the films what they are. Usually there are at least two British actors named for Oscars and that says a lot.
