dont you just love the olympics?... Well I do... I love everything about it.. The opening ceremony.. the sports...the host city... the controversies... the determinations of all.. it shows you can achieve almost anything if you believe in it.

my 1st memory of the olympic is the Seoul olympic. I remember seeing the opening ceremony one morning in a hull of a Malaysian Navy warship in the middle of the ocean (they were having open day) and was awe by the sight.. I was 7 at that time... (young and innocent)..

Well the next stop for the summer olympics is London... Gosh i wonder when Malaysia will have the opportunity to host the events... 2020 sounds nice...perhaps we could host it in that year!

Malaysia is still chasing that elusive gold medal I see. The Team GB have done well this year and it has been really fascinating trying to second guess where the medals will be coming from.

One discussions we have had in my local is why are some soprts exlcuded, what sports have been included and are now excluded.

A ruling was made that no motorised vehicles could be used which obviously excludes motor and motor bike racing and speed boating.

But did you know the Olympics originally included poetry, classical music and other academic items!!!! That's right, the whole thing was meant to cover body and mind...... Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

and yes marty our gold is still elusive.... hmmm gosh it is reallllyyy elusive...

...football is always English, rugby is always English, cricket is difficult to say although English they include Scots and Welsh, the olympics is always GB, geographically it is England, Scotalnd, Wales,... the Language is English, even when you are in America which makes a mockery of English (uS), English (UK) as found in most software set ups... the is an English Rose and Egnlish Tea (although we never grew any of the damn stuff here).. there is English language and English Literature although this is taught outside of England and many of those whose books are read in English Literature are not necessarily English... aargghh I can't go on..

All I know is that team GB pocketed the best medal haul for 100 years and we want to do better in 2012 when the Olympics are hosted in London. All we have to do now is get Mayalsia a Gold medal... Rolling Eyes Wink Laughing

well team GB has to first try and keep China, Russia and the US behind in the medal tally in 2012... they're always the 3 strongest teams Wink Confused

as for Malaysia, well I guess if Squash is allowed to be an Olympic sport in 2012, then we have hope Wink Laughing

That's why the literature subject we have in Malaysia is called Literature in English as it is different from English Literature.

Many students are having a hard time with their English language so you can imagine how 'well' they're doing in their literature component. Rolling Eyes

lol... sorry we can't use the language properly but we're trying our best. What we're exposed to on tv or radio isn't helping much Sad

I propose the govt sends more deserving English language teachers to England to improve their proficiency and efficiency in teaching the language. Get first hand info. Razz

Arthur did his 3-mth stint there back then and came back to faithful service ever since.
