Can a family man with salary RM3,000.00 survive in Malaysia Question

Let's do some simple calculations here. Smile

In Malaysia, the average family income is RM 3,000.00 per month. ( Where both or one side working lah )

I understand there are many families whose monthly income does not reach RM 3,000.00 but to make things simple. Let's take RM 3,000.00 as the figure .

Electricity and water bill: RM 100.00
( No aircon, No home theatre, No water heater...........ok Question )

Phone bill ( fixed line ): RM 100.00

Meals for a happy family : RM 775.00
( 3 meals on RM 25/day, RM 25 for 4 persons )

Papa makan / teh tarik during working hours : RM 155.00
(RM 15 / day , RM 5.00............. can eat WHAT Question )

Car repayment : RM 400.00
( A national car aerobak, 7 years repayment )

Petrol at the latest prices - 2.70 per litre ( living in city- traffic jam) - RM 500.00
(go to work, bring kids to school, only can afford one car running)

Insurance : RM 650.00
(kids , wife and husband )

House repayment : RM 750.00
( low cost housing repayment for 30 years, retired still have to work to pay Exclamation )

Tuition: RM 80.00
(got that cheap meh ? I dont think so )

Older children pocket money @ school: RM 20.00
(RM 1.00 / day, eat bread Question )

School fees: RM 30.00
(enough ah Question )

School books and etc : RM 100.00
(always got extra to pay in school)

Younger children milk powder : RM 50.00
(cannot have the DHA, BHA, PHA one , expensive Exclamation )

Miscellaneous : RM 100.00
(shampoo, rice, sauce, toilet paper, etc )

OH wait !! I have to stop here, so .................
No astro
No movie @ cinema
No DVD
No CD
No online,
Cannot KFC
Cannot McDonald
Cannot go park walk during weekend ( petrol expensive)
No chit chat on phone with relatives.........and etc........

Let's use a calculator to total up....WALAO EH !! RM 3,810.00 already.......

EPF belum potong, income tax lagi..........oledi RM 3,810.00..........

How to survive lah. tuan-tuan and puan-puan sekalian Question

Our DPM asked us to change lifestyle Question

How to change ? DONT EAT ? DONT WORK ? DONT SEND CHILDREN TO SCHOOL AND STUDY?

Beside that, I believe in Malaysia population, there are millions of rakyat Malaysia which still dont earn RM 3,000.00 per month Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

itu tak masuk smoking.... its like 5.00 per pack... imagine how many people spent on smoking alone...

but what else that govt need to do? btw i saw oprah yesterday about Freegan. they go thru trash looking for free stuff... imagine they find all perfectly good stuff in the dumpster!

but seriously.. we need to change our lifestlye drastically... more cooking at home.. yelah kalau before spend 700+ for food... now have to change lah..25 now come to Rm15... you might say what to eat? well makan pagi kais pagi lah

btw looking at your list 600 for insurance??? whoaaa... again i saw in oprah (yeaahhh rite) the panel said take insurance only for parents only (at first) coz if you can afford better protect the parents first.. coz anything happen to the parents at least the kids will have something.

soo rather then gripe about it... better make lemonade out of it k.

Dunno if u guys heard about it or not...but there might be another fuel price hike in August...how much? Brace yourselves!

RM4.50/liter!!!

If that's true,Malaysians might as well stop using cars...just use public transport, motorbikes, bicycles or walk!

On a positive note: Less cars, less exhaust smoke, more healthy environment...More walking and cycling, more healthy people... Laughing

as much as some Malaysians might resort to not driving... some really do... especially if you work at odd hours of the day and if they work very very far from home... Confused Rolling Eyes

and the thing is even if we do resort to taking the public transport, that too is gonna increase in price! Confused Rolling Eyes

imagine parents with kids taking the school bus to school? how many times is uncle bus gonna hike up his fares? Rolling Eyes Confused

well speaking from a very trustworthy point of view (well mar i am working somewhere that really know about this stuff) i doubt there will be a fuel price hike... trust me..

and we need to utilizes the use of public transport.. more people using the less it will cost...its the demand supply thing...

the thing is us malaysians (me included) might think public transportation is beneath us...ye la before all naik kereta.... but i have to swallow my ego and change my life style

..it's the same the whole world over. Here in the UK we have been so reliant on cars that we have let our public transport system decay. With its denationalisation it is now one of the most expensive in the world. Added to that the degrading of social behaviour and you then find it is not available at night. We have a lot here to blame ourselves, and successive goverments, for. Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

The LRT system in KL is superb. Have used it a few times. The Airport Express train is also meant to be extremely good. Or is that me being an outsider? Laughing Laughing Laughing

I've always been friends with our local taxi companies. Been very supportive of them till this very day. Reason why I don't drive is coz I can't stand the traffic jams in KL. Now with the petrol price skyrocketing, I'm glad I don't drive.

Actually, for things to change for the Rakyat... it's gotta first start with the people in power!

For as long as those people don't change or expect to have a double standards just because they are who they are, then the Rakyat won't change either! It's not fair and the Rakyat will compare... am I correct?

So before anyone asks us to change... maybe they should try it first!

Bottom line is, things can't keep getting more expensive without an increase in our salaries... and I don't mean 100 or 200 ringgit... it's gotta be a lot lot more!

Before MAG and I used to spend something like RM600 for fuel and now it's RM1080. It's almost double and guess what... MAG hasn't had an increase in salary since she joined back in 2001 and my salary hasn't changed either! So where do we stand in terms of savings? It's sad to know that should we get kids anytime soon, it'll be difficult for us to even survive with the escalating price of everything!

i wud love to have the pay increase.... honestly it is not enuff!.... but sad to say.... the govt is not in the position (AKA don't have the dough) for the pay increase (for more info please do private me lol).

itulah I vow to do the lifestyle change.. I was brought up with the idea of everything is made available to me. I dont care who is on the top coz i know miracles cant happen even someone else is there.. the miracle only can happen if I choose to change it. The more conservative I plan my budget. the less i will feel unhappy. I can't say about others. They are entitle for voicing their grievances. But for me. rather than just feed the dissatisfactions of my life. I rather pro actively change my lifestyle....

Zul, if ur right and there wont be any more price hike in the very near future that's good news! - but my source has a source who mentioned before the price increase recently that it would increase to RM2.72...my source didn't believe, turns out to be true (except it RM2.70 lah) and now the same source says in August it will increase to RM4.50...I don't dare say it's not true...I hope its not...but one can't be sure...just wait and see lah...
Thank goodness I havent gotten myself a car...putting that idea off for the moment seeing as how things are going now...hmmm...

Marty...for once, being right could be something that I wouldn't enjoy... Mad Laughing

Zul, how to produce more oil? Oil is a quickly depleting resource...Ppl are now looking for the next thing - biofuels? solar power? battery? etc etc etc...so since its depleting, less supply, more demand...definitely the price will keep on rising...and rising...and rising...*GULP!!!* Now the only thing we worry about is how much will it rise at a time? and hopefully not THAT much!!! Shocked
