Last Saturday I went to a wedding. It was a combined reception thingy. The groom's my aunt's hubby's nephew, and the bride is the daughter of the late Datuk Nasirudin (used to be the Political Secretary for Tan Sri Anuar Ibrahim). The guests of honour were obviously Tan Sri Anuar and wifey.

Anyways, the reception took place at The Playground at East Mutiara Condo, just down the road from Raintree Club. A bit about the groom - his mom's an Aussie and his dad's half Danish half Malay. The bride - Malay. Seeing that their parents have friends in the high society, I thought that for sure the reception would be a grand affair and the food would be good as well - I was curious and that's why I decided to go.

When I first heard that the venue of the reception was at a place called 'The Playground', I immediately thought that it was a name of a restaurant but when we got there, I was surprised to see that we were actually ushered to the kids playground at the condo's ground. I thought, "Hmmmm..... it's a pretty cool idea." Then we were greeted by one of the usherette and were told that the ladies and the men would be segregated - men on on side, ladies on the other and right smack in between is the playground. There were canopies on both sides of the courtyard. It felt kinda strange but that's the way it was planned.

There was no pelamin, no bunga manggar, no fuss. The main table looked just like the rest of the other tables. As for the music, they played nasyid songs all throughout the night. I later learned that the reason things were the way that they were was simply coz the groom belongs to the 'tablik' group (Martin, think the looks of Osama Bin Ladin).

As for the food.... they served plain white rice instead of the usual nasi minyak or nasi briyani or nasi tomato, and the dishes were..... fried chicken, ikan berlada, daging masak lemak cili api, kerabu kacang botol, mixed vege, rack of lamb, ikan masin and get this.... sambal belacan! Interesting choice of dishes I would say, seeing that the guests consist of a good mix of foreigners and locals. Overall it was an interesting event and it was really good seeing Caucasian ladies and African ladies dressed in kebayas and baju kurungs Smile

I'd love to wear a sari but unfortunately I was told that I don't have enough curves to hold it up. Oh well..... Sad
