It's a shame there're no stations playing classical music in this country.
I was lucky to have been introduced to classical music some years' back, where I was able to receive such transmissions.
Initially I tolerated them (only because I was too lazy to switch off the set) and it took me quite a while to appreciate them (only some though, not all). After a time I was hooked to the lighter pieces such as Symphonies by Mozart, Beethoven; Mozart's piano concerto and many many more.
And of course "Bolero"......who can forget Tovell & Dean?
As time went on I progress to light operas like "The Merry Widow". And later on, operas such as those composed by Donizetti: "La Fille Du Regiment"; "Lucia Di Lammermoor"; Bellini's "I Puritani"; and Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro"; "Cosi fan tutte"- to name a few- they are truly delightful.
All these operas are so tuneful you can even sing in the shower......hang on, hang on.....need to polish up your Italian first
The aria "La donna e mobile" from the opera Rigoletto as sung by Pavarotti is just lovely and tuneful.
Check it out, I am sure you'll enjoy listening to them as much as I do.
Am no connoisseur , just enjoy listening to good music....
Cheers,
Regina |

There are many BBC Channels available covering a very large variety of areas of speech and music... have alook... you can stream using these as I do for Mag and Pat.

BBC World Service used to have a number of interesting programmes such as a weekly show on Classical music, request programme hosted by Dave Lee Travis, 'Just a minute' and comedies on the SW. But all these were taken off air several years ago. I can only listen to my CD collections for the classics.
The phone system in this area is so obsolete that overseas calls still have to go through operator, so braodband is out. It's painful to listen online without broadband connection. |
