Does this fit the category of "Life in general"? If it doesn't, then maybe delete this.
Now, I bought a nice little scooter (its a Mosquito and I like to call it "STInger") [and yes, the STI is capitalized intentionally as a homage to STI=Subaru Technica International] and its been with me for roughly a year.
Now, having staying in KL for only one year, (or rather, Serdang-Subang-Klang) I find it amusing to know that irregardless of however I travel, to travel by a scooter (which some say is far more expensive than riding a motorcycle) is conveniently faster, cheaper, and more comfortable as to compared as taking the LRT.
Last week when I started taking up a part time job, I had to scoot my way to the LRT station, and hop on the LRT from LRT Sg. Besi all the way to LRT Pudu. That's RM3.40 per day, and not mentioning the petrol price for riding from LRT Sg. Besi all the way to and fro back to my home in Sri Kembangan.
It wasn't cheap, I must tell you frankly. That eats up RM4.00 per day for travelling (hey, that's the price of a brunch!), and notwithstanding other charges / cost for the day. And, it takes up a good 35 minute, sometimes 40.
That was for day 1, 2, and 3. Come day 4, I decided to bring my scooter to work, just to see how much I could save.
And mind you, I saved ALOT! To my surprise, it took me only 20 minutes from my home to the office lot, which gives me a good 10-15 minute advantage over the LRT, and since I do enjoy riding, I love it. No messing up with other fellow LRT passengers, no "sardines in a couch" situations, no sticky / embarrassing moments, nothing. The only thing I'm at the mercy with was the weather. And since I don't have to pay tolls (and I don't have to anyway even if i did drive a car, since I know where are the good bypasses) for riding a scooter, I don't have to incur other cost. Fuel? Its a meagre RM1.50-2.00 per day, which is 50% cheaper than what I have to fork out for taking the LRT.
And best of all, it doesn't just work for going downtown, but also going to other parts of the city as well!
You know, I should tell everyone back in Sabah, one of the things that they should learn before coming to west Malaysia (spesifically KL), is to learn how to ride a motorcycle, and go get one too.
Then again, I don't have to worry about having my Creative Zen Micro being stolen in the LRT while listening to Pat and Mag, since I'm hitting the road.
And somehow, I can get back faster than the LRT do, even taking my sweet time to listen to my music. Dawn or dusk, noon or night. Just no rain, please. Not while i'm scooting. =P _________________ The empowerment of humanity can be attained when each and every individual being rises up to take the responsibility for the welfare of the entire human race.
