Once a friend told me when in Singapore never tell anybody we come from Sarawak as they look down on us.

As far as I am concerned I don't care a damn what others think...I always said I am from Sarawak.

Some English girls asked me what knid of houses we live in....I told them we live on tree tops and when we go out we just swing from tree to tree to reach our destination....going to toilet can be an treacherous having to fight off tigers and snakes and what-have-you..... told them I came to England in a banana boat and took me about 6 months to row all the way.... Laughing Laughing Laughing

[quote="CIKGU ARTHUR"]"Hah!...How come u're not like 'them'???" Well, don't complain!!! There are TWO sides to the coin, two sides to any story! And when u point at others, u have four fingers pointing back at u!!! ALWAYS look at ourselves.....and ponder upon the erason why!

Yeah sure, you are not like 'us'. Are you saying we are a disgrace to our people? I'm only pointing out that people from a supposedly more developed place are ignorant about facts like this.. and we're from the same country called Malaysia. If foreigners, can't blame them.

Something else here as well. Different in phrases I have noticed certainly make a twisted difference. In Malaysia the question would be "Where do you stay?" in the UK the same question would be "Where do you live?", same quesion phrased by country. So the English girls asking the question were asking whereabouts not in what Exclamation Idea Laughing

they were not asking whereabouts...only 1 ENT Doctor asked me that, and that's because he had worked in Sarawak, in Kapit to be precise.

Those girls asked what kind of houses we live in... Wink and they really believe what I told them ( Laughing ) .... they think all non-whites are still very primitive... Wink Laughing

Btw... watever it is... we should be proud of our hometown la.. hehehe.. no matter how ignorant a person can be.. lets just put it this way.. Seeing is Believing..

There's a lot to learn and a lot to see in Sarawak and other states too .. only if we care about it... why i chose Sarawak was mainly due to the discrimination of the ppl here in the west.. Screw them if they dun want to accept sarawak as part of the country (believe me... this happens most of the time..) to me again seeing is believing.. for those who have been to Sarawak on leisure.. i am sure you would want to visit there again...

sometimes i do think that sarawak should be a country on its own.. (well that is my opinion la)... anyways... enjoy...

Peace...

my sentiment too... Wink Laughing

BTW way areen18, Sin Chiew was not founded by a Sarawakian...Tiong bought that company sometime around the turn of this Y2K.

I could be wrong but I think Nangyang & Sinchiew were originally established in Singapore until we split up, then we have our Malaysian edition (am not sure whether these 2 papers still exist in Singapore).

SIn Chew... Tiong was in it as board and he was one of the founders... during the spore time.. Rber those time when Swakian dun go KL to shop instead they always go to Spore... those era..

He only bought over the major late 90's and once the merger over he got it all and slowly buy over Nan yang and the others la..

that was wat i knw la... other than that i think it doesnt matter.

Well, that would a nation panic attack la should Swak declare to be a country on its own kan... (how i wish)

guys wat da ya think... should sarawak be a country on its own?

come on laaaaaa guys...... no need to go to all this length la... Be proud of who you are and cherish whatever culture you are from.. no need to bash anyone who are too ignorant to learn about others... We are malaysians and we are unique because we learn to embrace each other culture and identities.. trust me.. sometimes people ask stupid question just because they just dont know... no need to by hyped up just because they are to dumb to learn.. Does anyone know where Sitiawan is??? well it is my hometown...it could be in a jungle but it could be not.. will i be upset if they say Sitiawan is in Taiping? or in Ipoh? or in Selangor?? well i will not.. coz people just dont know.. so my apology of being honest... If someone doesnt know about something lets educate them..

its not about bashing anyone... like i said in my previous post..

"There's a lot to learn and a lot to see in Sarawak and other states too .. only if we care about it... why i chose Sarawak was mainly due to the discrimination of the ppl here in the west.. Screw them if they dun want to accept sarawak as part of the country (believe me... this happens most of the time..) to me again seeing is believing.. for those who have been to Sarawak on leisure.. i am sure you would want to visit there again... "

IF we only care about it... and lastly seeing is believing.. i agree ZUL in the end we should be proud of Malaysia irregardless of its turmoil on the system

i am a proud Sarawakian..n MALaysian...

Gee...tot this is a fun forum for gila-gila people and their nonsensical bantering, insult-hurling...which nobody takes seriously!!! The world is full of "sham.drudgery and broken dreams" and this is a way of escaping from all that...to hang loose, have fun and enjoy ourselves. Like mag and pat on the show...;does anyone honestly think they're like dat in real life??? Neither am I! Well, there are many serious blogs out there...Marina Mahathir's, Jeff Ooi's etc for those whose interest lies along those lines.....AMEN!
