As a Brit I love Malaysia because of the people first and foremost. They welcome you genuinely in the main, are affectionate and kind. As an outsider I feel genuinely at home. I have been coming to Malaysia since 1999, before I met Marie, and I can honestly say that this has always been the case.
In many ways Malaysia is the old Britain I knew and loved. We have lost our standards here, everything is PC without considering the consequences. Malaysia still maintains those standards and it has an obvious effect on its citizens.
The cultural mix should make Malaysia a flashpoint but actually it seems that it is exactly the opposite, the meld works. There aren't many places in the world like Malaysia from that viewpoint. The fact that a single conversation can be carried out incorporating 4 languages in that short outburst always amazes me. _________________ Cheers,

I love Malaysia, the panoramic view, the lush jungles, the scenic mountains, the fresh air, the clean waters and the sandy beaches.
I love Malaysia and her wide range of mouth-watering steamy enticing... stop drooling - Zul, Arthur and Dharma... I'm talking about FOOD! _________________ Yours Truly,

a hawaian song called "something" moon i think is what the national anthem come from...
but in Perak... the state anthem (in which the national was taken from) was also the same song.. and the title is "Allah Selamatkan Sultan" or Allah Save the Sultan.
so i was wondering which song is the original coz as far as I remember our state song is a very old song..
now back to the why i love malaysia.
our racial unity has always been a very interesting point in the story of malaysia... people might say it is a myth.. they might say the unity is something acted up... but i truly disagree..
Take for example PNM show... that is malaysia at its best.. we have all the races in there from both side of the Malaysia, enjoying the very essence of being different but sincerely co existing in the name of unity, brotherhood and friendship. We learn from each other. We celebrate each other celebration no matter how "minority" each celebration is. We learn each other language. We truly cherish each other existance
Yes they might be some rough patches in this beautiful relationship but taking P Ramlee famous song title for example "sedangkan lidah lagi tergigit"... we forgive and hopefully we forget.. For its inperfection.. Malaysia is perfect as it is..
I just love seeing "Abu" "Raju" and "Ah Chong" having teh tarik in a small gerai under the big tree... that scene is priceless.. hopefully our kids will hold on to this beautiful relationship
phewwwwww thats a long lecture from me lol _________________ One of the bujang lapok's (you sure) |

It IS from that moon song...and somebody did the Malay version "Terang Bulan" (Bright moon) and they got the melody for the anthem from there. U love all Malaysians, Martin? They're ALL nice??? You mean, your brother outlaw, Pat too??? LOL! U don't know the Rukun Negara, Zul? I can think of one off-hand: "Kesetiaan kepada Raja dan Permaisuri"! Ha ha ha ha ha! _________________ CIKGU ARTHUR

Actually the song was "Moon Over Malaya" created by a British Army band and played throughout the country in the clubs. At independence the song tune was adopted as the anthem.
Of course Pat, you need people around you that make you feel good and just looking at Pat makes me feel good, I tell myself how lucky I am _________________ Cheers,
